En Esch NOT joining Rammstein.
7/17/07
- You may or may not have heard the recent rumors that En Esch was replacing Till Lindemann as Rammstein's lead singer. Though some pretty reputable sources were picking up the story, En Esch himself shot it down on his MySpace blog:

SINCE I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY MANY FRIENDS, FANS AND ACQUAINTANCES ABOUT THE NEWS THAT I'M THE NEW SINGER OF RAMMSTEIN I THINK I NEED TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT. ALTHOUGH IT SOUNDS INTERESTING, IT IS NOT TRUE. I'M WORKING ON NEW SLICK IDIOT MATERIAL AND AM IN THE MIDST OF MIXING TRACKS FOR MONA MUR. RAMMSTEIN AND I ARE AND WILL STAY FRIENDS AND I WISH THEM THE BEST IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVOURS.

HOPE YOU'RE ALL HAVING A GREAT SUMMER,

LATER,
ESCH

Updates on En Esch & Raymond Watts.
7/3/07
- Wondering what En Esch and Raymond Watts have been up to lately? According to Mona Mur's MySpace page, En Esch has collaborated with her on an upcoming release entitled "120 Tage". The seven track EP will be available on iTunes sometime in August. As for Raymond Watts, one of the forum moderators over at the Swining had this to say:

Raymond, having emerged from a torrential downpour of frustration, has gathered everything he's been working on for the past few weeks and decided that yes, virginia, there is an album. It's been put back in the manger til he finishes two little project jobs which are time sensitive, but it's still progressing at an impressive speed.

KMFDM on FEARnet.
6/23/07
- If you have Comcast digital cable, you can watch an interview with Sascha & Lucia about their favorite horror movies. Go to the Free Movies section of the On Demand menu, then select FEARnet and then Interrogations. If you don't have Comcast, you can view the clip here. You can also see a short clip of outtakes from the interview here. Thanks to NessusMallum for the heads up.

Tohuvabohu press release & cover artwork.
6/6/07
- From the KMFDM Records news page:

KMFDM, now in their 23rd year, remain a musical entity to be reckoned with. Through relentless experimentation and reinvention they have continued to unleash a barrage of songs that allow their fans to dance with abandon, bang their heads or dissect the band’s cuttingly cunning lyrics – sometimes all at once!

KMFDM’s new album, Tohuvabohu is no exception. ‘Tohuvabohu’, an Old Testament word meaning “wild and chaotic”, perfectly captures the spirit and energy behind the tracks contained therein. Sascha Konietzko, the band’s founder and leader, conducts his army of analog synths and wields his razor sharp lyrics and vocals. Chanteuse Lucia infuses her tracks with a fiercely powered urgency alternating with soft beauty. The KMFDM core remains solid as ever with Jules Hodgson, Andy Selway and Steve White providing the cranking guitars and forceful beats that KMFDM is known for.

While staying true to the Ultra Heavy Beat, Tohuvabohu also dares to venture into new territory, ultimately destroying everything in its path. The album offers up servings of dance (“Looking For Strange”), metal (“Saft Und Kraft”) and industrial (“Spit Or Swallow”), along with the somewhat unexpected elements of darkwave (“Tohuvabohu”), sweeping epic (“Bumaye”) and even rock/pop (“Fait Accompli”).

Tohuvabohu adds to the growing list of languages sung in the KMFDM catalog – Latin, Hebrew, Lingala (an African language) and Spanish can all be found within. The Spanish language cover of Liaisons Dangereuses’ dancefloor favorite “Los Niños Del Parque” provides a perfectly retro/electronic departure as one of the album’s most memorable tracks.

Continuing the band’s one of a kind relationship with their followers, Sascha K. invited the fans to participate in the creative process via the Fan Phone. For a couple of weeks fans from all over the world called in and recorded stories of what KMFDM means to them. Kapt’n K., as he is known to the devoted horde, wove their voices throughout the album’s opening track, “Superpower”, demonstrating once again that KMFDM belongs to the people (and vice-versa).

KMFDM invites you to celebrate chaos with Tohuvabohu. “Get ready, set, all systems go!”

Tohuvabohu is joint release between KMFDM Records and Metropolis Records.

No April Fool's bullcrap here!
4/1/07
- Well, it's April Fool's Day and the internet is awash in lame, obvious pranks. In protest, I'm updating with real news. As you've probably heard already, KMFDM recently announced the release of their 15th album, TOHUVABOHU, on August 21st. The title comes from a Hebrew phrase meaning "without form and void" that appears in the Bible. Nothing much else has been revealed about it, though Sascha did mention in a few interviews last year that he was wanting to go to in a very electronic direction. In addition to a new album, I've also heard a couple of rumbles about a greatest hits type album hitting sometime later this year, too. Apparently, there are already some Australian tourdates popping up, though these remain only rumours until the band confirms them. Finally, the release dates for the reissues of Symbols and Adios have been announced. Metropolis & KMFDM Records will have them on store shelves May 8th.

In KMFDM related news, Pig is back in the studio working on a new album. According to several posts on The Swining, Raymond Watts has been writing and recording for a few months now, having finished three songs already.

Dirty Bomb tracklist and release info.
9/24/06

We're not sure of the exact date as yet but it will be available via the KMFDM online store and released on the KMFDM label. The initial run will be 1000 copies of which we plan to give away 300 signed posters on a first come first serve basis. Depending on the demand we will extend the run from there. Good news as we've been sitting on the album for some time now so we're all very pleased to make it available. Please visit the KMFDM Myspace page and submit your email info into the text field for future updates and info..

Track listing is as follows

Ever After
6 Ft Below
Katatonic
Best Of Everything

Barely Cold
Back To The Front

Please visit the KGC myspace page for a taster and more info www.myspace.com/kgcmusic :)

Please note that while this does come from Dean Garcia's official webpage, I've heard conflicting reports about the album coming out on KMFDM Records. Until you hear it directly from KMFDM Records, don't take the above as fact.

Official word from Metropolis regarding the reissue glitches and the new version of Naive.
9/21/06
- If you've purchased any of the first batch of KMFDM reissues, you may have noticed several audio errors scattered throughout the albums. I emailed Metropolis about the problem and this was their response:

We received new masters and the next pressing will have the problem fixed. There are only about 2000 copies out there with the glitch, so in some people's eyes it could be a collector's item. People can exchange their copy with us starting in October (the new pressing should arrive here at the end of the month). They can send it to:

Metropolis Records
attn: KMFDM "glitch" exchange
238 N Gov Printz Blvd
Lester, PA 19029

Also, forum poster vertajalihaa emailed Metropolis asking if the reissue of Naive will include the version of Liebeslied with the sample of Carmina Burana. This was their response:

The version of Liebesleid will be an edited version without the sample.

While this is certainly disappointing, it should be noted that there's really nothing anyone could have done about it. The people who hold the copyright for Carmina Burana are notoriously bastardly about the work being sampled.

xSCREWciating released!
9/12/06
- Thanks to several people for pointing out that you can now buy Slick Idiot's xSCREWciating remix album from their online store.

Info on the next batch of reissues.
9/9/06
- Forum poster OdeToGroovy dug up the following info from the Metropolis Records mailorder website:

Metropolis Records presents more KMFDM Classic re-releases. These long out of print essentials from the band’s Wax Trax! Records days have been unavailable for years. Now, Metropolis Records is putting them out in the order in which they debuted. Next in line to be released are the cornerstones of the KMFDM back catalog, 1990’s Naïve, 1992’s Money and 1993’s Angst. These albums have all been given the deluxe treatment with some containing additional customized extras. The booklets for Naïve and Angst have both been expanded to 20 pages to include lots of exciting new material. To make this the ultimate version of Naïve, KMFDM has packed the CD full with 5 bonus tracks of remixes originally released on 1994’s Naïve: Hell To Go. All KMFDM Classic re-releases have been digitally remastered, presenting their songs in a quality previously unavailable. Documenting the history of KMFDM the accompanying CD booklets all include the original album art (by famed KMFDM co-conspirator Brute!), in-depth liner notes, quotes from KMFDM leader and founder Sascka K., lyrics for each song, never before seen photos of the band, full recording and production credits and more. All work on these releases, from the remastering to the packaging, has been done with the highest level of participation from Sascha K. These releases join KMFDM’s first three albums, What Do You Know, Deutschland?, Don’t Blow Your Top and UAIOE which are already available from Metropolis Records. Look for the rest of the KMFDM Classics including Nihil and Xtort coming soon. The next phase of the legacy begins, KMFDM is back to Rip The System again!

8/18/06

Lucia appearing on Acumen Nation's new album.
7/8/06

Bits about the Dean Garcia collaboration.
7/7/06
- Taken from Dean Garcia's website:

We're currently finishing off and putting final touches to a 10 track album as yet untitled. We have been bouncing ideas back and forth for the past six months and have come up with some wonderful songs which we hope will be released sometime this year. We are all extremely happy with the results and are very excited for everyone to hear them. The album is very full on and extreme but with a very melodic slant. I've been writing recording and producing the initial tracks from the LAB studios here in London, the sessions are then mailed over to Seattle to record Lucia's vocals followed by additional production arrangements and mixes by Sascha who has been working around the clock in the KMFDM studios to produce a beautiful sonic mind fuck.....We are currently meeting various labels in New York and L.A. with view to release the album and tour it in 2007. I can honestly say it's some of the best work I have ever done and am very keen to explore the idea of taking the 3 of us (plus) on extensive tours and turning everything up to the max. Once we have things in place I'll post some samples of the tracks for you all to hear.... :)

Good news and bad news.
7/5/06
- First, the good news: Metropolis Records has listings for what looks like the first of the KMFDM reissues on their website. What Do You Know Deutschland, Don't Blow Your Top and UAIOE are all listed for release on September 12th. No details on remastering, new liner notes, bonus tracks, etc. yet, though. Now, on to the bad news. The remaining dates for the current Pig tour have been cancelled due to routing & scheduling issues. Don't lose all hope, however, as there is a strong chance the tour will be rescheduled sometime later this year.

Pig bits + Xtort 10th anniversary.
6/27/06
- Got a bunch of little Pig news bites for you today. First off, there's a new interview with Raymond over at Rock Star Journalism. Next up, Raymond will be doing a radio interview with Fearless Radio this Wednesday at 11PM. You can listen in here. Finally, word comes in from the Swining Forum that a new Sow album is nearing completion.

On a nostalgic note, Xtort was released ten years ago last Sunday. To commemorate the anniversary, Sascha has posted to his Kaptain's Korner blog with his thoughts about the album. Also, you can see a recreation of the classic Xtort press release here.

Guenter Schulz not touring with Slick Idiot.
4/20/06
- I've received word that Guenter Schulz will not be performing with Slick Idiot at all on their current tour. He will, however, still be playing guitar for Pig this summer.

Updates!
4/17/06
- My apologies for the lack of updates recently. Blame Netflix. Anyway, there's been a massive amount of things going on both with KMFDM and with many of its former members. As you've probably heard by now, KMFDM is releasing an EP on May 9th entitled RUCK ZUCK (roughly translated as "right now"). It will contain remixes from Hau Ruck & WWIII by both the band and by members of Nude and The Dwarves. RUCK ZUCK will also contain KMFDM's version of DAF's classic "Do the Mussolini". You can preorder the EP here and listen to sound clips here. Beyond RUCK ZUCK, Sascha and Lucia are also collaborating with Dean Garcia from Curve on a new project. No further information has surfaced about the collaboration yet, unfortunately.

If you've just gotten into KMFDM recently and have never gotten to see En Esch, Guenter Schulz or Raymond Watts play live, you're definitely in luck. Both Slick Idiot and Pig are touring the U.S. in the coming months. In fact, Slick Idiot's tour just kicked off last Friday. Sadly, Guenter Schulz's work visa hasn't been approved yet, so he may not be able to join the tour for a while. However, whenever the red tape is cleared, Guenter will not only be joining the Slick Idiot tour, but will also be playing guitar for Pig. I highly recommend checking out both bands if they come even remotely near you. It's been four years since the last Slick Idiot tour and a whopping nine years since the last Pig tour, and it'll probably be just as many before either band tours again. You can find dates for the Pig tour here and dates for the Slick Idiot tour here.

Speaking of Guenter Schulz, his album "What Apology" has been released. You can order it here. It's a sharp departure from his work with KMFDM and Slick Idiot, but still worth checking out.

SCHULZ.
1/11/06
- Guenter Schulz has a new solo project coming out this February, aptly named SCHULZ. It's a more straight-forward, rock-oriented album that teams him with vocalist Jeff Borden. Info and sound clips can be found here at the official website.

Fresh pork.
1/8/06
- Supercoolnothing has posted a brand new interview with Raymond Watts here. Additionally, Jules has updated his official blog. Enjoy!

What's Raymond Watts up to?
1/2/06
- One of questions most asked on the UHB forums concerns the whereabouts of the Lord of Lard, Raymond Watts. Despite going through some rough times over the past couple of years, Raymond is still kicking around London and is apparently in better spirits than he has been in a long time. This is due, in part, to all the positive feedback he's received on his newly opened MySpace page. If you have a chance, stop by and let him know how you feel. On the music front, Raymond's dusting off a couple of long-brewing projects to tinker with. Additionally, Raymond & Co. are working on being able to offer merchandise from their website, though it'll take time to get everything up and running. Be patient, the scent of pork is on the wind and good things are coming to little piglets who wait.

Sascha's blog updated.
12/30/05
- Sascha has posted an update to his blog. In it, he talks about finalizing some KMFDM recordings (most likely the rumored single/EP) and beginning a mysterious new project. Thanks to Zombiecat for the heads up.

Merry Christmas!
12/24/05
- Have a rockin' one.

New websites for KMFDM & Pig.
12/9/05
- Both KMFDM and Pig have opened new websites recently. KMFDM has come one step closer to realizing their dream with the opening of the official KMFDM Records website, whereas Raymond Watts has finally made his presence known online with the official Pig website. You can also check out Raymond's official MySpace group here.

Slick Idiot remix album delayed.
12/9/05
- Due to some unforeseen problems, the upcoming Slick Idiot remix album, X-SCREWCIATING, has been delayed a few weeks. Read the full story here at the Slick Idiot official site.

Pigmata = Pigmartyr.
9/19/05
- According to Metropolis Records, the upcoming Pig album, Pigmata, is actually just a rerelease of the Pigmartyr album from last year. There is some good news, however. The album will be remastered and will feature three bonus tracks, "God Rod", "On the Slaughterfront" and "Filth Healer". Thanks to Pole00 for the heads up.

New interview with Sascha.
9/19/05
- Rock Star Journalism has posted a new interview with Sascha here. It's a really good interview, but some of the comments Sascha makes don't bode well for American fans.

News roundup!
9/16/05
- The past few weeks have been quite a whirlwind of activity in KMFDM land. First and foremost, HAU RUCK has hit the shelves. Thanks to forum member AlexW, you can find translations for the German songs on the album here. If you haven't picked up a copy already, you can order it directly from KMFDM via the KMFDM Store. Speaking of such things, KMFDM.net has been given a major upgrade. The new site features in-depth bios, a full lyrics archive and the glorious return of the Tech Talk section. Kudos to those responsible for putting this together. Also, good news for those of you having trouble finding KMFDM's older releases. In a recent radio interview, Sascha confirmed that the first batch of reissues should be available in the next few months or so. No official word on what albums will be available, but chances are Nihil and Xtort will be among the first. In the same radio interview, the band let slip that a MDFMK song will be finding its way onto the setlist of the upcoming tour, most likely Rabble Rouser.

KMFDM aren't the only ones keeping busy. Slick Idiot has a new remix album coming out soon, entitled X-SCREWCIATING. Perhaps most surprising, though, is that Pig seems to have a new album coming out this November. Metropolis Records has a listing for an album entitled Pigmata on their website. While there's speculation that it could be a greatest hits type package or a rerelease of the Pigmartyr album under the Pig name, the description makes it sound like a brand new album. Either way, looks like we'll find out before too long, as Pigmata is tentatively scheduled for release on November 8th.

Hau Ruck previews.
8/25/05
- The KMFDM MySpace page now has samples of Free Your Hate, Hau Ruck & Mini Mini Mini up for listening.

Opening band & U.S. tour dates.
7/30/05
- According to a post on the Cracknation boards, Acumen Nation will be opening for KMFDM on the Canadian leg of their upcoming tour. Also, it's looking like the band will hit a select few U.S. dates before they head off to Europe. Remember, though, all of this is technically unconfirmed until posted on the KMFDM website. Thanks to Duck and Cover, Kabukiman, OKComputer & Brandon Werdel for the multiple heads up.

Hau Ruck artwork!
7/21/05
- Looks like the cover art for Hau Ruck is already starting to pop on around the net. Check it out below. Thanks to Technocratic for the heads up!

And the title is...
7/21/05
- According to the latest KMFDM Field Communication, the title for the new album will be Hau Ruck, which roughly means "heave ho" in English.

Tracklist.
7/18/05
- Metropolis has posted the tracklist and a short description of the new album here. If you're in a hurry, I've cut & pasted it below:

KMFDM have been blending and bending musical genres in the underground scene for more than 21 years. While Sascha K. claims (tongue firmly in cheek) to be ''the Father of Industrial Rock'', KMFDM have in truth crossed over to rock, metal and dance fans alike. They have returned to Metropolis Records to release their newest album (title to be announced soon). As for the singing on this album, Lucia unleases a spectrum of vocal styles and Sascha K spews his own trademark, ''bad-ass'' attitude. Lyrically thought provoking, yet humorously ironic, KMFDM skewer the world and themselves with each stab. Throwing out all misconceptions of the band and the genres they are associated with, this is the most powerful and innovative album that KMFDM has ever created. KMFDM produced and mixed the album themselves and were even involved in the mastering process guaranteeing a sonic redefining of their signature sound. From the spoken introduction of the album to the closing track, KMFDM show exactly what some hard work can accomplish. On Metropolis.

01. Free Your Hate
02. Hau Ruck
03. You're No Good
04. New American Century
05. Real Thing
06. Every Day's a Good Day
07. Mini Mini Mini
08. Professional Killer
09. Feed Our Fame
10. Ready to Blow
11. Auf Wiederseh'n

Thanks to Chris Martinez & Hunter Rose for the heads up.

Release date for the new album.
7/12/05
- The latest KMFDM Field Communication confirms the release date of the still unnamed new album as September 13th.

New German interview.
7/8/05
- Forum member AlexW has been kind enough to translate a recent interview that appeared in a German music magazine. You can read her translation here. The interview reveals the tentative titles of three songs: "Auf Wiedersehen", "Feed Our Fame" and "Hau Ruck!". It also mentions that "Hau Ruck!" is completely in German and that "Feed Our Fame" is apparently "rockabilly". A big, big thank you goes to AlexW for translating this for us!

Update on the Prey soundtrack.
7/3/05
- Now that the Prey video game is back in production, a lot of people have been asking if the music KMFDM did for the game will be in the final product. Here's what Scott Miller of 3D Realms had to say about it:

I really do not know if we still have the right to use the music KMFDM recorded for us -- that's something I'll need to check into (I hope I can find that old agreement!). However, that music (and there wasn't a lot recorded) was "cosmic industrial" and not at all like the musical direction we're going with the new version of Prey. It'd be fun, though, to find a way to include that music in the game somewhere, maybe in a MP map, maybe in a secret area, that kind of thing.

Click here to see his original post on the 3D Realms message board. Thanks to SmackMaster511 for the heads up.

KMFDM remixing MSI.
7/2/05
- KMFDM will be remixing a song for an upcoming Mindless Self Indulgence remix album. Thanks to ZombieCat for the heads up!

FUBAR shitcanned.
6/22/05
- According to the most recent Field Communication, KMFDM has finished recording FUBAR. However, FUBAR is no longer FUBAR. The band has decided to abandon the name for an as-yet-unannounced one. Regardless of what it's called, the eventual album will have 11 tracks and should hit in September.

Happy birthday, Sascha!
6/21/05
- Have a good one!

Small update from Lucia.
6/19/05
- Over in Lucia's LiveJournal, she mentions that FUBAR is in the final stages of recording & mixing.

New En Esch footage.
6/10/05
- Some footage of En Esch recording vocals and guitar for the next Pigface album has popped up here. He drops a couple of KMFDM references into the vocals, so be sure to check it out. Thanks to Cliff for the heads up.

KMFDM covering Jacques Dutronc.
5/29/05
- According to an email received by sebgob of KMFDM News France, KMFDM have just completed a cover of Jacques Dutronc's "Mini, Mini, Mini". For more info on Jacques Dutronc, click here, and to listen to a sample of the original, click here. Thanks to sebgob for the scoop and SmackMaster511 for the link to the sample.

Also, the release date for the 20th Anniversary DVD is June 14. Starting May 31, you can preorder it through the KMFDM Store. The first 250 preorders will receive a free poster, as well.

3/18/05
- Sascha stopped by the UHB forums and let slip a few interesting tidbits.

* Recording of FUBAR is progressing nicely. The band is currently working on the as-yet-unnamed single and its subsequent remixes.

* At least one of the songs will be completely in German.

* The band is talking about the possibility of doing a music video for the new album.

* Steve White should arrive in the studio shortly to add his input to the record.

* The Brute! artwork for both the album and the single is almost complete.

* The 20th Anniversary DVD is nearing completion. It'll will be two discs and will feature footage from Europe, Russia, Australia, Canada and the U.S. No footage from any previous tours will be included.

* There will not be a 20th Anniversary CD.

* A remix contest of some sort is possible in the future.

* The re-releases of the back-catalogue are already in production and the first batch should be released this summer. They will be digitally remastered and will include full booklets, liner notes, lyrics and unreleased photos.

FUBAR update from Jules.
3/1/05
- As posted on the MySpace KMFDM group by Jules himself:

So...
Thought I'd let y'all know how the new album's shaping up...
We've got tons of stuff being kicked arround at the moment but the tracks that are coming to the fore at the moment are a real ecclectic mix. There's definatley some fiery electronica happening, and for the first time we're all working on the synth stuff, so big dance grooves are a plenty. I've come up with the best thing I've ever done inside KMFDM - Heavy as yer mum and twice as unfashionable!!! lol
I just finished putting down guitars on a track Sascha started, and if it doesn't get yer vinyl clad butts shaking on the dance floor in yer local industrial discotheque, then you've forgotten how to dance.

Thanks to neversummer for the heads up. Also, happy 21st birthday to KMFDM!

Forum troubles.
2/15/05
- As you might've noticed, the forums have been up and down over the past couple of days. Apparently, some of the websites that share serverspace with me have been hijacked and used for denial of services attacks. As a result, my webhost has been locking down various resources, one of which is the database that powers the forums. It shouldn't be too long before everything's fixed, though, so hold tight.

Upcoming live interview with Sascha.
2/1/05
- Sascha will be doing a live radio interview with CIUT 89.5FM Toronto this Thursday at 11PM Eastern time. The interview will be streamed in RealAudio format, the link for which is here. You can find more info here.

Tidbits from the forum.
1/17/05
- Hi there! Long time, no see. Not too much has been happening in the world of KMFDM lately, hence the lack of updates. However, Sascha has been nice enough to stop by the forums and answer a few questions. In the process, he let slip a few interesting tidbits.

* The band is currently working their next album, entitled FUBAR. While it's still in the very first stages, six or so tracks are already beginning to take shape.

* Over the next two years, KMFDM is hoping rerelease their entire backcatalogue through KMFDM Records.

* It's likely the singles will be compressed into a two or three disc collection.

* Some 5.1-mixed music is in the future.

* There will be a KMFDM 20th Anniversary DVD released sometime in the future, containing both live footage from the recent 20th Anniversary World Tour and some older bootleg material.

Merry Christmas!
12/25/04
- Hope you all have a great one.
